Voice Record Playback Module

This module is made using IC ISD1820, a single message record and playback device. It can record and play sound signals of 10 seconds duration. Recording is stored into on-chip non-volatile memory having data retention up to 100 years. It also have an internal audio amplifier which enables us to connect an 8Ω, 0.5W  speaker without any additional components. This module can be easily interfaced with Raspberry Pi, Arduino Boards and Microcontrollers.

Description

Inputs

REC – Record

REC input is the active HIGH record trigger signal having internal PULL DOWN. The device records the sound signals through microphone whenever the REC input is HIGH. It must be high for the entire duration of recording. It has higher precedence than PLAYL and PLAYE playback signals. The record cycle will be completed when the REC signal is pulled LOW and an End of Message (EOM) marker is recorded. EOM enables the subsequent playback cycles to terminate appropriately.

PLAYE – Playback Edge Activated

Playback cycle is triggered when a LOW to HIGH transition is detected in this pin. Playback cycle continuous until an EOM or end of memory space is reached. This pin also have internal PULL DOWN.

PLAYL – Playback Level Activated

Playback cycle is triggered when this input pin transits from LOW to HIGH. Playback continuous until PLAYL is pulled LOW or EOM mark is detected or the end of memory space is reached. This pin also have internal PULL DOWN.

FT – Feed Through

This option enables us to use the internal speaker driver for external signals. In this mode the signals given to MIC will pass through AGC (Automatic Gain Control), filter, speaker driver and then to output. To activate this mode FT should be held HIGH while REC, PLAYL, PLAYE are LOW. This pin also have internal PULL DOWN.
